Baytech 6th graders practiced their Spanish
language skills at Los Cántaros Restaurant in Oakland. Students then toured the
Lake Merritt aviary and the gardens where they learned about a variety of bird
and plant species.Then students teamed up to learn how to kayak at Lake Merritt
Boating Center. Here are some of their comments:
“The best part was when my mom didn’t know where the drinks
section was. So I told her it was in the bebidas
section. I was so happy because I finally recognized a word in Spanish at a
Mexican restaurant” -Mary Lynn

“ I was scared when I got on the boat, but then I got used
